Definitions
Cookies are small text files that the sites visited by users send to their terminals, where they are stored before being re-transmitted to the same sites on the next visit. Cookies of the so-called “third parties” are, however, set by a website other than the one the user is visiting. This is because on each site there may be elements (images, maps, sounds, specific links to web pages of other domains, etc.) that reside on servers other than the site visited.
Types of cookies
Based on the characteristics and use of cookies we can distinguish different categories:
- Technical cookies. Technical cookies are those used for the sole purpose of “transmitting a communication over an electronic communications network, or to the extent strictly necessary for the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to provide this service “. They are not used for other purposes and are normally installed directly by the owner or operator of the website. They can be divided into navigation or session cookies, which guarantee the normal navigation and use of the website; analytics cookies, similar to technical cookies when used directly by the site operator to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the site; functional cookies, which allow the user to navigate according to a series of selected criteria in order to improve the service rendered to the same. For the installation of these cookies, the prior consent of users is not required, while there is obligation to provide information pursuant to Article 13 of EU 2016/679 Regulation, that the site manager, if he uses only such devices, will be able to provide in the manner he deems most suitable.
- Profiling cookies. Profiling cookies are designed to create profiles related to the user and are used in order to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the same in the context of surfing the net. Because of the particular invasiveness that such devices can have in the private sphere of users, European and Italian legislation requires the user to be adequately informed about their use and express their valid consent. It is envisaged that “the storage of information in the terminal equipment of a contractor or a user or access to information already stored is permitted only on condition that the contractor or the user has given his consent after being informed with the simplified procedures referred to in Article 13 of the EU 2016/679 Regulation. This site does not use profiling cookies.
“Third-party” cookies
By visiting this website, you may receive cookies from sites managed by other organizations (“third parties”). An example is the presence of “social plugins” for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or LinkedIn, or systems for displaying embedded (integrated) multimedia content such as YouTube and Flickr. These are parts generated directly by the aforementioned sites and integrated into the web page of the visited host site. The presence of these plugins involves the transmission of cookies to and from all sites managed by third parties. The management of information collected by “third parties” is governed by the relevant information to which reference is made. To ensure greater transparency and convenience, the following are the web addresses of the various information and how to manage cookies.

Analytics cookies
WEBTRENDS
For the sole purpose of monitoring and improving site performance, a statistical analysis market product may be used to detect access to the site. It may resort to the use of cookies, permanent and otherwise, for the purpose of collecting statistical information and on the “unique visitors” of the site. Cookies, defined as “Unique Visitor Cookies”, contain an alphanumeric code that identifies navigation computers, but without any collection of personal data.
GOOGLE ANALYTICS
The site may include components transmitted by Google Analytics, a web traffic analysis service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). These cookies are used for the sole purpose of monitoring and improving site performance. For more information, please refer to https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

HOTJAR
We may use Hotjar in order to better understand our users’ needs and to optimize this service and experience. Hotjar is a technology service that helps us better understand our users’ experience (e.g. which links they choose to click, what users do and don’t like, etc.) and this enables us to build and maintain our service with user feedback. Hotjar uses cookies and other technologies to collect data on our users’ behavior and their devices (in particular device’s IP address (captured and stored only in anonymized form), device screen size, device type (unique device identifiers), browser information, geographic location (country only), preferred language used to display our website). Hotjar stores this information in a pseudonymized user profile. Neither Hotjar nor we will ever use this information to identify individual users or to match it with further data on an individual user.
Duration of cookies
Some cookies (session cookies) remain active only until the browser is closed or when a logout command is executed. Other cookies “survive” when the browser is closed and are also available in subsequent visits by the user. These cookies are called persistent and their duration is set by the server when they are created. In some cases, a deadline is set, in other cases the duration is unlimited.
Cookie management
The user can decide whether or not to accept cookies using the settings of their browser.
Attention: the total or partial disabling of technical cookies could compromise the optimal use of the site.
The disabling of “third-party” cookies does not affect the navigability in any way.
The setting can be defined specifically for different websites and web applications. In addition, the browsers allow you to define different settings for cookies “owners” and those of “third parties”. As an example, in Firefox, through the menu Tools-> Options-> Privacy, you can access a control panel where you can define whether or not to accept the different types of cookies and proceed with their removal. On the Internet it is easy to find documentation on how to set the cookie management rules for your browser, as an example you will find some addresses related to the main browsers:

11. Mechanisms in place to check trainees’ work and prevent fraud, impersonation, and identity theft
- Login tracking: Our learning platform tracks and records each login and logout of the system, making it possible for the instructor to monitor and verify the identity of the trainee.
- IP restriction: Our administrators restrict access to the system based on the IP address, making it more difficult for someone to impersonate a trainee by logging in from a different location.
- Role management: Our administrators assign different roles to different users, such as instructors, students, and administrators, helping to prevent fraud and identity theft by ensuring that only authorized users have access to sensitive information.
- Two-factor authentication: Our platform allows the administrator to enable two-factor authentication, which adds an extra layer of security by requiring a second form of identification, such as a code sent to the trainee’s phone, in addition to the password.
- Anonymous grading: Instructors grade student submissions anonymously, which can help prevent bias and discrimination.
- Proctoring: Our platform supports integration with third-party proctoring services that allows the instructor to monitor the student during the exam by using the webcam, microphone, and to lock the student’s browser during the exam to prevent cheating.
- Randomized questions: Assessments are generated using randomized question sets, making it more difficult for students to cheat on quizzes and exams.
- Plagiarism plugin: This plugin allows instructors to check student submissions for plagiarism against a database of web pages, journals, and previously submitted papers. It also provides a similarity score and highlights any potential instances of plagiarism.
12. Attendance
At Ansam and Flúirse Career College, we believe that online attendance is equivalent to regular attendance and we will therefore treat it as such for the purpose of evaluating student progress and determining grades.
However, in order to ensure that students are fully engaged in the learning process, we have implemented the following policy for programs that are longer than a month and provided in asynchronous electronic mode or blended learning:
- We will require a minimum of 25% simultaneous attendance hours, where students are required to participate in live virtual sessions, such as webinars, live discussions, or virtual office hours.
- These live virtual sessions will be scheduled at convenient times for students, taking into account time zones and other factors.
- Students will be required to attend these live virtual sessions, and attendance will be taken and recorded.
- Students who miss more than 25% of the live virtual sessions without a valid excuse will be considered as not fulfilling the attendance requirement and may be subject to disciplinary action.
- We will provide students with a clear and easy way to request accommodations for live virtual session attendance, such as alternative scheduling or recording of the session, to accommodate their individual needs.
We understand that online learning can provide flexibility and convenience for students, but we also recognize the importance of maintaining a sense of community and engagement in the learning process. This policy is designed to strike a balance between these two goals and ensure that students are able to get the most out of their education.
12. Feedback
We aim to measure the level of satisfaction of users (trainers, students) with the electronic services provided by Ansam and Flúirse to ensure that the services are meeting the needs of the users and to identify areas for improvement. This is achieved through the use of a feedback survey on the Learning Management System (LMS).
The feedback survey is implemented in the following way:
- The survey is created and uploaded to each course page by the administrator or instructor. The survey includes a variety of question types, such as multiple choice, rating scales, and open-ended questions, to gather both quantitative and qualitative data.
- The survey is made available to the users (trainers, students) at the end of the course or program.
- Users are notified of the availability of the survey and encouraged to complete it.
- Users can complete the survey anonymously if they prefer.
- The survey data is collected and analyzed by the administrator or instructor.
- The results of the survey are used to identify areas for improvement and to make changes to the services provided by the online course provider.
- The results of the survey can also be shared with the users (trainers, students) to demonstrate the actions taken to improve the services based on their feedback.
This type of survey is a convenient and effective way to gather feedback from users and to measure the level of satisfaction with the electronic services provided by Ansam and Flúirse. It allows the us to gather information on what works well, what can be improved and how to best support the users.
It’s important to note that, that we aim for these surveys to be created and implemented in a way that is inclusive, non-discriminatory, and respects the privacy of the users. The survey will be available in English and Arabic to accommodate non-native speakers and it will be accessible to students with disabilities in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0.
